Glatt Ingenieurtechnik honored as a “Hidden Champion” made in Thuringia
Erfurt, March 2023:
The State Development Corporation of Thuringia (LEG) launched its new marketing campaign “Hidden Champions – Thuringia’s world market and technology leaders” with a kick-off event on 3 March 2023. They didn’t have to look far to identify 89 companies that are at the forefront of the market in their industry. Among them is Glatt in its capacity as a leading specialist for plant engineering and processes in fluid bed and spouted bed technology as well as the patented powder synthesis in a pulsating gas stream. Along with other Thuringian technology companies, Glatt was awarded a certificate for this at the event.
In a panel discussion, Dr. Reinhard Böber of Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH, Bettina Limpert of Active Fiber Systems GmbH, Stephan A. Grund of German Detectors, and Mark Scholze of PETKUS Technologie GmbH discussed their experiences with the management and development of technology companies in the Free State of Thuringia. In this context, Böber also spoke abouton the spin-off of the company from the former Schwermaschinenbaukombinat Magdeburg in the post-reunification years: “We definitely wanted to stick to the Weimar location, further develop our processes, and market them worldwide.” Looking back, it is clear that with persistence, engineering expertise and a viable economic concept success stories like Glatt’s are possible – even under difficult conditions.
Making Thuringia’s SME champions visible to the public
“Thuringia is characterized by its diverse and at the same time high-performing medium-sized companies,” explained Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), whose ministry is implementing the project together with LEG. Mechanical, plant and tool engineering together form one of the highest-turnover industries in Thuringia and develop precise and efficient machines at the highest level. “We want to put this concentrated innovative strength and market power of Thuringia’s economy in the shop window in a highly visible way with the new image campaign,” said Tiefensee about the initiative.
As part of the campaign, LEG will use its new website at www.hidden-champions-thuringia.de and social media to present the top companies to a wide audience. LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey commented: “We want to show the skills and potential the Free State has to offer. The campaign contributes to location marketing, but it is also intended to give companies in the Free State inspiration to become world market and technology leaders in their field themselves.”
Glatt Ingenieurtechnik is not only proud of the honor but especially pleased to serve as a role model for other Thuringian companies.
